As our region grows and pressures on our waterways increase, Catawba Riverkeeper is focusing our work where it matters most. In 2026, we're returning to the heart of our mission and centering our efforts on what we do best: watershed science and meaningful public engagement, especially with the next generation of Riverkeepers.

This year we've already removed 1,000 pounds of trash from the river and restored 818 feet of shoreline. We're preparing to launch our Swim Guide program, host river cleanups, and welcome a new class of summer interns. We're also unveiling an improved Floating Classroom on Lake Norman where students step out of traditional classrooms and onto the water.
