"The Catawba Indians have lived on their ancestral lands along the banks of the Catawba River dating back at least 6000 years. Before contact with the Europeans it is believed that the Nation inhabited most of the Piedmont area of South Carolina, North Carolina and parts of Virginia."

We'll be walking along the trail and learning about the cultural and natural history of the Catawba Indian Nation. Exploring the local flora, and hopefully any fauna that crosses our path, as we hear from Nation members.

We'll end our talk directly on the Catawba River at a seating area, so you're welcome to bring some snacks to enjoy the view (if it's not too hot).

To learn more about the Catawba Nation visit their website https://www.catawba.com/about-the-nation.

In the event of poor weather we will inform participants by 5:00pm the day before if the event is to be cancelled. There is no rain date for this event.
