Explore a Wilderness Study Area and marvel at the beauty of an untouched piece of land that has a triple-drop waterfall!


This is a popular hiking spot for locals and swimming hole (for those brave enough for the scramble to the water). This hike will make you earn it, 2.5 miles up moderate difficulty trails to the top of the first falls and then hike back.

Date: Saturday, September 12
Time: 9 AM – 1 PM
Location: Harper’s Creek Parking Area East (https://www.google.com/maps/dir//35.9776,-81.76639/@35.976979,-81.7669776,18z)

Difficulty: Moderate
Distance: 5 miles round trip (up and back)
No Bathrooms!

Schedule:

9 AM – Meet and introductions
9:15 AM – Begin hike
11:15 AM – Reach top of upper falls and break for lunch
11:45 AM – Start back down towards parking lot
1 PM – Return to parking lot and join us at Granite Falls Brewery for some food and drink: https://www.granitefallsbrewing.com/

What to bring:

  • Small backpack
  • Water bottle
  • Snacks/lunch
  • Appropriate clothing for the weather
  • Always bring a rain jacket and an extra layer
  • Hiking shoes/boots or athletic shoes – no sandals/flip flops/crocs, etc.
  • Any medication you require (epi-pen, inhaler, etc.)
  • Hiking stick (optional)

  • $5 for members
  • $10 for non-members
