Trails:
- Half Day
- High Shoals Falls Loop (2.7 miles)
- Labeled “Strenuous” due to over 100 steps to the waterfalls and to get above them, the remainder of the hike is moderate hill climbing with downhill.
- Full Day
- High Shoals Falls Loop + Chestnut Knob Trail (about 7.9 miles)
- In addition to the first hike, Chestnut Knob Trail is “Strenuous” due to switch backs to gain a lot of grounds and then, steady uphill hiking.
- High Shoals Falls Loop + Chestnut Knob Trail (about 7.9 miles)
- High Shoals Falls Loop (2.7 miles)
Special Highlight: Long Distance backpacking professional, Ryan Berry, will describe how to prepare for your own long-distance backpacking experience and help with fitting your pack.
Lunch provided! A typical backpackers’ light lunch: Tortillas, peanut butter, honey, snack bars, cheddar cheese, and backpacking salami.
*Food Allergies* – Please bring yourself food that is safe for you!
Need to bring:
- Small backpack
- Water bottle
- Snacks
- Appropriate clothing for the weather
- Always bring a rain jacket and an extra layer
- Hiking shoes/boots
- No sandals/flip flops/crocs, etc.
- Any Medication you require (epi-pen, inhaler, etc.)
- Hiking stick (optional)
Optional: Bring your multi-day pack and materials (tent, sleeping bag, etc.) if you want to train.
