Where science, history, and fun converge.
Our middle school program is focused on engaging campers through service-learning lessons. River Trackers will explore how the Catawba River has been used over time to benefit humans and how we can, in turn, positively impact it today.
River Trackers will learn the history of the Catawba Nation, the namesake of the Catawba River. Campers will also monitor water quality on portions of the Catawba River throughout the week as they identify potential sources of pollution and create innovative solutions to these threats.
The last day, campers will meander down the river on kayaks and take part in a kayaking 101 safety/fundamentals class.
